{"id":38,"date":"2012-10-04T02:16:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-04T07:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seekingthestill.com\/?p=38"},"modified":"2019-08-22T16:55:01","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T21:55:01","slug":"31-moments-of-still-day-2-love-you-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oldseekingthestill.com\/website_e02ce2c0\/31-moments-of-still-day-2-love-you-to\/","title":{"rendered":"Love You to the Moon and Back {day 2} 31 Moments of Still"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p>I was an honest to goodness worrywart when I was a child.\u00a0 I fretted about everything from having cancer to returning my books to the library past the due date.\u00a0 So when my parents traveled to Hawaii for a vacation, I was beside myself with negative thoughts.\u00a0 A plane crash&#8230;no parents&#8230;what was a 5th grade girl to do but wring her hands and clench her stomach in fear?<\/p>\n<p>But my mother, in all her love and wisdom, did a beautiful thing.\u00a0 She wrote us a letter for each day she was gone.\u00a0 Every day we opened an envelope to read her reassuring words, but I honestly remember the contents of only one.\u00a0 On this particular day, she figured out a certain time of night when my sister and I (only two of us were old enough) could look at the moon at the very same time that she and my dad looked at it.\u00a0 It was a way for us to feel close even though we were so very far away.\u00a0 The designated time must have been around 9pm because I remember having to stay up a bit longer than usual.\u00a0 We were lying on a mattress in the living room of my grandparents 100 year old farm house and there were huge windows just beside us.<\/p>\n<p>At just the right time, I gazed up through those windows, my eyes staring wide at the brilliant moon above.\u00a0 I think perhaps there might have even been a prayer that we all said at just that same moment.\u00a0 What a gift my mother gave me that evening.\u00a0 It was a shift in perspective I will remember always.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year I traveled twice to Africa, leaving behind my own young daughters.\u00a0 The first time I went, I wrote them a letter for every day and, yes, one of those nights we stared at the same glorious moon from two continents away.\u00a0 Separated by distance, but not by love.<\/p>\n<p>In times when I feel overwhelmed, I am still comforted and calmed by placing my gaze upon the moon.\u00a0 It holds great significance for me.\u00a0 A beacon of light in the darkest of times.\u00a0 Even more so because it reminds me of the love of the One who placed it in the evening sky.\u00a0 I like to think He knew we would need a reminder in the midst of our darkness, that there is light shining down on us.\u00a0 And just like the moon, that light we need so greatly is a reflection.\u00a0 It is the reflection of a love so deep and so strong that it is above our ability to comprehend.\u00a0 A love that always lights the way just when we need it the most&#8230;<br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-j7p-_Gu8L5E\/UGzxQKqsUYI\/AAAAAAAAAis\/CkJyq1g3_hs\/s1600\/31_MomentsofStill.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seekingthestill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/31_MomentsofStill7.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><i>The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.<\/i> John 1:5<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was an honest to goodness worrywart when I was a child.\u00a0 I fretted about everything from having cancer to returning my books to the library past the due date.\u00a0 So when my parents traveled to Hawaii for a vacation, I was beside myself with negative thoughts.\u00a0 A plane crash&#8230;no parents&#8230;what was a 5th grade [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":287,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"nf_dc_page":"","_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"wds_primary_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[4],"class_list":["post-38","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-31-moments-of-still"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
